Last night's concert was special - sponsored by the Ponchielle Society, of which my friend Licia Sirch is president, so she made the introduction.
She's the one on the left. The theme was a dedication to composer Verdi, who had a house just outside Cremona.
Instruments featured were oboe, clarinet, flute, and piano.
After the concert, half a block away in Piazza Stradivari there was some kind of line dance going on.
And then we walked a few blocks to Piazza Roma and found the Tango Club of Cremona dancing with Almicare Ponchielle (statue in background) looking on the scene.
Licia went to say hello to the Argentinian couple who teach the classes which she has taken. They also demonstrated tango & milonga for the crowd.
Rt to left: Stefano, Licia & son Michi in Piazza Roma. We had walked and Licia had ridden her bike to the concert. Everyone walks or bikes here. Well, it's a little after noon here and this Piazza is quiet after a bell-ringing symphony but it sounds like some ceremony/event is next door in Piazza Stradivari as I hear speaking and taps.
Cremona is a jumping place! And I am off to a family lunch.
